Northern Ireland has seen its fair share of musical talent over the years but rarely has such extraordinary raw talent been so apparant in someone so young.
SOAK is 16 year old singer/songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson. Originally from Belfast and now based in Derry, her unique minimalist sound and captivating live performances have already won her a huge following of enchanted fans, including Duke Special and The Undertones, who she supported during The Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival.
Her two EPs to date, the stunning Trains and Sea Creatures (both available on iTunes), have received airplay on BBC Radio One and feature songs of delicacy, honesty and gentle longing that belie her tender years. Her sound has been compared to everyone from Nick Drake to her personal favourites, Bombay Bicycle Club, but after seeing her play live we think the best way to describe Soak is that she’ll break your heart and then mend it again with the turn of a phrase and a wonderful fiesty grin.
OUTBURST is so thrilled to have Bridie perfom a full set for an all-ages audience, celebrating the vision, talent and confidence of a new generation of queer youth in Northern Ireland.
A hotly tipped prospect, her style has already been compared to that of Lisa Hannigan, matching her voice in pureness THE MIRROR
